In life, almost everyone sets standards that serves as a guide and to some extent becomes a ”ritual” that we so much perform in order that we do not become ”dummies”.
The standards we set define our lives- the people we want to become, the people we want to be with and the kind of profession we want to undertake among hosts of others. This helps us determine the future we so desire to have using our present condition as a yardstick to measure progressive attainments or retrogressive setbacks.
These standards may be higher or lower than our ability. In spite of that, it is absolutely imperative that we set standards that are at par with our capabilities. We may compromise on our standards but before we do that, we need to weigh in on the pros & cons.
Compromising on your standards is like travelling from a relatively hot region like the Sahara to a very cold region like Iceland.. Life then becomes unbearable and the process of adaptability may take long
to complete.
Similarly, we get that when we compromise on our standards. We may suffer the consequences and the damages may be irreparable. It could be being with the wrong people, choosing the wrong profession or
totally becoming someone we never envisioned.
To conclude, it is my wish that as much as possible, we set attainable standards for our good and the good of the people that surrounds us.
