Life has so many definitions. So many of them that you cannot even fathom. Apparently, these definitions were given by people who were caught up in a situation or two. Some say life is sorrowful, and others say life is how you make among many others.
Well to succeed in life, we all need to set our minds to certain principles that would guide us. To begin with, you need to plan ahead of time.
Planning gives you ample time to be able to put things in great order. It could be you planning for a trip. You don’t have to wait till the dire minute before you start planning. You might forget something important and that could cost you your entire trip.
It is for no reason that Winston Churchill said ”He who fails to plan is planning to fail” during World War II.
Never please friends, society etc. They are always not satisfied. You need to know that your life is not tied to someone else’s life (friends).
The life you live belongs to you and the only one you need to please is your Maker, God. Today, people choose to go one particular university or polytechnic because their friends are over there.
Some years back, a friend told me she wanted to come to my university because I was there. Without mincing my words, I told her point blank that it was a complete waste of time if she was coming there because of me. Others have had to rush down the aisle with a man or woman because they needed to please their friends, society etc.
Such a rush may lead to a disaster which you never had planned for. Some people make decisions because their friends say this or that and eventually, they miss out on the ultimate goal.
As you plan and try not to please your friends, you should also remember to be focus and resolute in all situation. This helps to ”keep your eyes on the road” as The Doors said in their ”Roadhouse Blues”. Once you are resolute and focus, nothing deters you. You keep going till you reach your preferred destination.
During my secondary school days in Kpando Secondary or what is now Kpando Senior High School (Kpasec), there was this guy who was admitted during the 2007/08 academic year to study Home Economics.
Just when most of the guys in that department decided to switch courses, he chose to remain there. Today, this young man is one of Ghana’s promising Fashion Designers. And during Kpasec @ 60, he organised a spectacular fashion show at Kpando. He remained focus to what he wanted to do and he has achieved that.
Before I end this piece, keep in mind that the road to success is not smooth sailing. You may face challenges till you get there. However, with the right attitude and determination, be sure of laying your hands on life’s ultimate prize.
