There is this interesting TV advert in Ghana where a prospective bridegroom after presenting the drink for a knocking ceremony had his phone ring.
His mum in-law to be, disappointed by the kind of phone her in-law brought out, described it as a yam. She strongly urged the young man to drop that yam.
Interestingly as I reflected on the advert, the Spirit of God dropped a word in my heart relating to some yams we should drop as the year folds up.
Lord what are those yams? I asked and His response were as follows:
Y – Yokes
A – Anxieties
M – Miseries
Listen beloved, thus says the Lord, drop that YAM.
You couldn’t see the light of your dream so you are disappointed? It’s a YAM, drop it.
May be you fell along the faith road, it’s a YAM, rise up from it.
It seems God had turned a deaf ear to your tears and prayers? It’s a YAM, don’t believe it.
You may have been distracted by the issues and pleasures of life, it’s a YAM, don’t be caught in it.
Hear God’s word beloved, drop the yokes, anxieties and miseries.
For how long would you cling to the pain of the yoke or the distress of the anxiety or the burden of the misery?
2014 may have offered some financial, emotional, spiritual YAMs but it is time to drop all of them. No carryover in to 2015 in Jesus’ name.
Beloved drop that YAM for His burden is light and His yoke is easy (Matthew 11:28-30).
When Mary dropped the YAM of sorrow, she received a word of comfort: Lazarus come forth (John 11:43).
Drop that YAM and be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, the peace of God will be your portion (Phil 4:6-7).
Drop that yam for he turns our misery into dancing by anointing us with the oil of joy.
Happy 2015. Remember to drop that YAM.
