As the year comes an end, most of us Christians try to make decision to change from a bad attitude or behaviour to the good. Others may also change from good to better.
Resolution is a firm decision to change from bad to good, good to better, and from better to the best.
As we all know, nobody is perfect. We all need changes in one way or the other. So, to resolute means a decision we make to improve or add value to our Christian lives by doing something or to stop doing something.
Making a resolution is not as easy as it seems. We therefore need help in making the right decisions or resolutions that can be accomplished.
In Romans 7:15, Paul expresses the desire of doing good but he could not do the good he wanted to do. But in Philippians 4:13, the same Paul said he could now do all things through Christ who strengthens him.
The question is, why was Paul not able to do the good that he so wanted to do at first? The answer is simple. It is because Paul was relying on his ability, his understanding, and his knowledge.
Before each year ends, some of us make the same mistake Paul did. We make resolutions based on our own understanding of how things are supposed to be in our lives. We depend on our knowledge in making resolutions forgetting that we worship an all knowing mighty God.
Paul realized he could not achieve any good thing unless he commits it to God. God’s sufficiency became his thus he now could do ALL THINGS.
Like Paul, let us commit our resolutions to the Lord if we really want to accomplish them. The Lord is the beginning and end. Whatever he has started, he will finish.
Look to the Lord as you make your resolutions for 2015. Commit your ways to the Lord and He will see your plans come through.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
