It was just an hour ago at work. I felt so tired and couldn’t wait to see the night shift personnel so I can leave the hospital…After all I have dealt with mostly pregnancy cases the whole afternoon and bored already…this small cold weather made some do their own things and that has turned into extra work for me (I was trained to attend to sick people, not merry makers…lol).
Several minutes after 8pm, nobody had showed up yet thus I packed to leave the hospital. Just as I stepped out, a nurse drew my attention to an emergency. Some things needed to be done but I was tired already and besides am virtually off duty – I have closed. I felt reluctant to respond to the nurse because what needed to be done takes time to complete…once u start, you have to finish thus u either start and wait to complete it or leave it to be done by whoever is supposed to be on duty…something told me to attend to her – the patient is more important than whatever it is that am going to do at home. I obeyed the inner voice and attended to the patient.
Minutes later, the night personnel finally showed up so I handed over successfully. As I stepped out of the hospital once again, there were people rushing in – talking about armed robbery and gunshots. I paused to listen and realised the event took place on the main road to my house…less than a km away. The robbers turned the lights in the whole area off. Blocked the road and attacked cars and people around. I hurried into the car and as we drove close to my area, I realised the lights were all off as said. The rapid response military team overtook us at high speed. I got worried…the whole place was dark. I hurried straight into my house and locked the doors as quick as possible. I felt better now because my little security apparatus guaranteed safety within the room.
I felt the voice in me again…NOW YOU KNOW THE REASON WHY YOU HAD TO SERVE THAT PATIENT EVEN THOUGH YOU HAD THE LEGAL RIGHT TO WALK AWAY. THAT TIME SPENT WASN’T FOR THE PATIENT, IT WAS FOR YOUR SAFETY.
I am sharing this for y’all lovely people to know the need for you to STAY CONNECTED TO THE REDEEMER. Divine guidance is guaranteed in Him. What if I ignored the patient and went home? Only God knows what would have happened. Follow! He guides! Stay Connected!
