The Graduate Students of Ghana have congratulated Mr Andrew Kofi Gyan and his executives for their election as the new president and executives of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) urging the new leadership to be wary of politicians who may try to divide their course for political purposes in the run up to the December general elections. Mr Kofi Gyan and his executives emerged as winners of this year’s NUGS elections which were held at the GNAT Hall on September 8 2012.
A statement signed by Messers Peter Kwasi Kodjie, and Osman Ayariga Abdulai noted that We are extremely happy to know that there has been a smooth transition of power from the two former presidents, Messers Peter Kwasi Kodjie and Osman Ayariga Abdulai to your good self and same for your other executives.
“On behalf of all Graduate Students in Ghana, I extend my warmest congratulationstoyou for your victory, which you have assured us is a victory for the whole of NUGS’.
The statement caustioned the new executives to be mindful of the past experiences of the union and detach themselves from extreme partisanship which has been the cause of the Unions’s predicaments.
“We trust you will excel in your office as NUGS President”. We also hereby promise to assist you and your executives with our rich experiences in leadership to facilitate the restoration of the Union to its glorious path as a major contributor to national development”.
The statement further reminded the new executives that they have a grave responsibility to move this Union forward without further delay, and it is our fervent hope that you will attach all seriousness to this call by the students of Ghana.
