The Mfantsipim School won the 2014 edition of the annual National Science and Maths Quiz finals which was held on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the R.S. Amegashie auditorium, University of Ghana with 55 points.
Ghana Secondary Technical School placed second with 41 points and St. Francis Xavier Jr. Seminary took the third position with 28 points. 134 schools took part in this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz competition.
Adisadel, Prempeh, Wesley Girls, and Achimota failed to qualify for the Semi Finals. Opoku Ware School made it to the Semi Finals but could not find a place in the Finals.
myJCR News gathered that all schools which made it to the semi finals received GH¢ 4,000, the contestants received GH¢ 500 and their teachers also received GH¢ 500 each.
Ecobank Ghana sponsored the first prize. Mfantsipim School received GH¢ 40,000 for winning this year’s competition. The contestants received GH¢ 5,000 and their teacher also received GH¢ 5,000.
Ghana Secondary Technical School received GH¢ 25,000 for placing second. Their teacher received GH¢ 2,500 and the contestants received GH¢ 2,500.
St. Francis Xavier Jr. Seminary received GH¢ 15,000 for placing third this year. Their teacher received GH¢ 2,000 and GH¢ 2,000 for the contestants.
