Some heads of Senior High Schools in the Ashanti and the Eastern Regions are preventing students from voting travelling to cast their ballots.

The heads of the institutions are refusing to sign out of campus permits to the students who live in other towns.

Speaking to Citi News, a former Director of the Ghana Education Service, Michael Nsowah said the heads of these institutions may have to answer to the law.

“These heads will be involved in all these political issues which is not good for the profession because we are supposed to be neutral, even though we have the right to any party. You don’t display your allegiance openly and if you do that you are likely to suffer if things change then they will be looking for sympathy from somewhere which is not good.”

According to him, the students must be allowed to exercise their franchise because “if anybody has registered and is 18 years and above, all you do is to facilitate this person to go and vote.”
