Access Bank, Ghana has donated a new Toyota Hiace minibus to the Security Services of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as part of its commitment to improve the learning environment in the educational sector.
The donation is expected to facilitate the operations of the security services especially in security patrols on campus to reduce and curb the incidence of crime on campus.
Presenting the bus to the University, the Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Dolapo Ogundimu, reiterated the bank’s commitment to the educational sector. He observed that Access Bank had for the past 6 years been supporting the educational sector by investing to help bridge the deficit in infrastructure, learning materials and support systems that enabled students to thrive and excel.
Mr. Ogundimu further noted that many corporate organisations including Access Bank were beneficiaries of the graduates churned out of the universities hence the bank’s continued support for the sector.
“The Universities provide us with a pipeline of talent for the industry, and they require our support to make it happen. The role they play is invaluable, and as key stakeholders, the only way to make their work more sustainable is by providing the right support. Our contribution today therefore forms part of our sustainability agenda as a bank, “he concluded.
Receiving the bus on behalf of the University, Professor William Otoo Ellis commended Access Bank for the kind gesture. He stated that the donation would go a long way to help the security services to protect students, staff and property within and without the University campus.
Matilda Asante-Asiedu, Head of Corporate Communications stated that the bank had committed resources to social investments in key areas such as education, health, environment, sports and the arts to improve the well-being of several communities.
