“The Anglican Church has taken the initiative to bring Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) to the doorsteps of the Ghanaian society.”This was a statement made by Prof. William Otoo-Ellis, the Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between KNUST and the Anglican University of Technology (Ang.U.Tech) following the successful completion of the basic requirements of the affiliation process.
The two institutions also signed the Instrument of Affiliation and Affiliation Agreement. Ang.U.Tech was also awarded the Certificate of Affiliation.
The affiliation would review taught undergraduate programmes in BSc. Agric Engineering and Mechanisation, BSc. General Agriculture, BSc. Soil and Water Engineering, BSc. Community Medicine and Health, BSc. Health Information Management and BA. Development and Management Studies.
Prof. Otoo-Ellis expressed his joy at the successful completion of the affiliation process and thanked the delegation of Ang.U.Tech for choosing KNUST as its mentor institution. He promised the delegation from Ang.U.Tech consistent mentorship and partnership to see to the achievement of the goals of the institution.
Professor Marian Ewurama Addy, President of Ang.U.Tech, said that KNUST was the choice for mentorship because it was the first and leading university of technology in Ghana so it was in the best position to mentor a young institute of technology.
Prof. Ewurama Addy added that she was hopeful that the academic partnership would be a fruitful and productive one which would leadto the sharingof ideas that would draw on the strengths of the two institutions.
Among the delegation were Most Rev. Dr. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo (Archbishop, Internal Province of Ghana), Rt. Rev. Dr. C. Ben-Smith ( Suffragan Bishop of Kumasi), Rt. Rev. Dr. Festus Yeboah Asuamah (Bishop, Sunyani Anglican Diocese), Prof. K. Nsiah-Gyabaah (Vice President of Ang.U.Tech), Mr. Amoo Atta Agyemang (Director of Administration, Ang.U.Tech ) and Ven Dr. Joseph Osei (Member of the Delegation).
