Students of the Faculty of Arts of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) held their annual week celebration from November 10 to November 15, 2014.
The week long celebration which had the theme “Contribution of the Artist to the Nation’s Economy; Solution to Graduate Unemployment” was launched at the Conference Room of the new Faculty of Arts building on Monday, November 10, 2014.
In attendance were the Provost of the College of Art and Social Sciences, Heads of Department,the Faculty Registrar, Faculty Patrons, Faculty Executives, and Departmental Executives.
The Provost advised students to nurture entrepreneurial skills so they can create jobs when they graduate instead of looking for jobs.
There was a spoken word performance entitled “Unlimited” by Myles Atanga at the official launching.
From November 11-12, departments under the Faculty of Arts exhibited what they represent to the university community during the Departments Day.
The Inter-department Games Competition came off on Thursday, November 13 at the Paa Joe Stadium of the University. Students from various departments under the faculty competed in track events and football.
Communication Design students won the trophy and a cash price of GH¢200.00 for the football competition. They scored Industrial Arts students 1-0 to place first.
Present at the stadium were patrons of the Arts Society, Madam Peggy and Mr. Edwin Bodjawah. Also present were Auntie Aba (Publishing Department), Mr. Awuley Quaye (former Arts Society Patron).
A socialization day dubbed “Efiada Mm)so)” was held for students of the Faculty at the Kosados Arena Hotel on Friday, November 14, 2014 to climax the Arts Society Week Celebration.
