Katanga conquers all at maiden National Students’ Awards

Residents, affiliates, alumni, and friends of the University Hall (Katanga) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have officially been granted bragging rights for at least one year by the National Students’ Awards Ghana for winning all their categories at the maiden edition of the National Students’ Awards (NSA).

Fellows won the much respected “Overall Best Hall of Residence of the Year” award in addition to “Best Hall of Residence of the Year (Male Category)” and “Best Jama Group of the Year”.

Their arch-rivals, Continentals of Unity Hall, unfortunately remained spectators and picked no award at the auditorium of Zenith University College in Accra on Saturday, October 17, 2015.

myJCR.com, which was born at KNUST but now gaining grounds in other campuses was adjudged the “Best Campus News Network in Ghana”.

The awards night was excellently organised and well patronised. Although the choreography and poetry recitals almost made the night boring, the over-energized Fellows of Katanga, Okpomates of Mensah Sarbah Hall, and a performance by Dr. Cryme kept the night alive.

Benjamin Taylor of Radio Univers (Legon) won the admiration of many with interesting medley of dancing moves.

Below are some of the winners of the various categories:

Best Hall of Residence of the Year (Mixed) – Mensah Sarbah Hall (Legon)
Best Hall of Residence of the Year (Female) – Adehye Hall (UCC)
Best Hall of Residence of the Year (Male) – University Hall (KNUST)
