Fifty eight (58) very good students of the College of Engineering (CoE) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been given awards by some corporate institutions.
The companies which sponsored the awards day were Vodafone Ghana, Toyota Ghana Limited, Baker Hughes Ghana, Genser Energy Ghana Limited, Kingdom Books and Stationary, S.T. Nankani, Educational Path Way International, Total Ghana and eSyllabus for Africa, USA.
Professor Stephen Innocent Ampadu, Provost of CoE, told the students that the awards were in recognition of the students’ effort and hard work and they were incentives to make them strive harder. He hoped to see them compete at the international level and to get opportunities in companies and organizations which needed their services.
Vodafone Ghana which aims at promoting gender diversity and grooming female engineering students to pursue careers in the engineering field, gave five thousand Ghana Cedis (¢5,000) each to five (5) female beneficiaries and Baker Hughes awarded one thousand five hundred United States dollars (US$1,500) each to six (6) female beneficiaries for two (2) academic years.
Others were Genser Energy Ghana Limited, which awarded one thousand and fifty cedis (¢1,050) each to nine (9) beneficiaries; Toyota Ghana, which awarded five hundred cedis (¢500) each to ten (10) beneficiaries.
Educational Path Way International awarded two thousand six hundred and ninety three Cedis (¢2,693 ) each to eight (8) beneficiaries; e-Syllabus for Africa also awarded eight hundred United States dollars (US$800) each to ten (10) beneficiaries; Kingdom Books and Stationery, which awarded four hundred cedis (¢400) made up of two hundred cedis (¢200) cash and two hundred cedis (¢200) worth of stationery set each to ten (10) beneficiaries including one who was already on scholarship, and Total Ghana, whose list of beneficiaries was not out yet but was set to give awards to eight (8) beneficiaries, and the best among them would get to go to Paris, France for summer school.
Professor Stephen Innocent Ampadu acknowledged and expressed his gratitude to the sponsors. He congratulated the awardees for their hard work. He then encouraged the other students present at the awards day to work hard to achieve their goals in life.
