KNUST-SCC celebrates with Joe Mettle

The Students Chaplaincy Council (SCC) of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is a mother spiritual body for all denominations on campus.

Her spiritual activities for her members have helped built most of her members in the word of God. One of her major organized programs is the SCC week celebration.

After a month and some weeks into the semester the week-long celebration finally began, scheduled from the 5th of October to the 12th of October. Each week came with special packaged program, lots of experiences and love truly manifested in those who dwell in the Body.

The first activity was a Relationship Program was held on the Sunday, 5th of October 2014 at the Royal Parade Grounds, KNUST. In attendance were students from all levels and colleges. The program which was purported to educate students on relationship issues and to expose them to how they could blend such relationships with their Christian life and academics took its roots in the heart of all who were present.

Monday, 6th October was a prayer and worship night with KNUST Mass Choir. Students expressed their thanks to almighty God for the gift of life and a successful vacation through worship and prayers.

Yes indeed, they that worship the Lord must worship in truth and in spirit. The service ended with an atmosphere of a great essence of God in the hearts of all men.

The program continued with a Literary Night on the Tuesday, 7th October 2014 with KNUST Mass Drama. There was a ministration of the word through literally works by way of drama and choreography.

Wednesday was a time of worship with renowned gospel musician Joe Mettle and KNUST Mass Choir. Not even the rains could stop the worship service. It was a great joy to see technical guys and ladies of God laboring in the vine to deliver good sound even in the midst of a heavy rainfall.

On both Thursday and Friday, the minister who was invited for the celebration in the person of Dr . Reverend Wilfred Arthur planted the seed of the word of God on KNUST land. He spoke vehemently and thoroughly about the theme for the celebration, G. (Matthew 5:14-16). In his ministration, he entreated all believers to light up wherever they are, he ended on both days by calling unbelievers to accept Christ and all believers to reignite their light.

Saturday, 11th October was the LOV (Ladies Of Vision) day which was organized on the theme; A CHOSEN GENERATION, AN IDENTITY IN CHRIST (1st Peter 2:9-10) at the Republic Hall Dining Hall at 9:00am. The speaker for the program was Mrs. Philaret Wilfred Arthur. She encouraged all ladies to be virtues and avail themselves for the works of God. Ladies were equipped with the skills of beads-making and floral arrangements. Present were some gentlemen to support the vision.

Then came the crowning ceremony on Sunday October 12, 2014 at the Royal Parade Grounds. In attendance were lecturers, SRC executives, NUGS executives and associates. Some of the lectures present were Very Rev. Dr. P.K. Boafo (the Chaplin of the University), Mr and Mrs Oduro, and Mrs. Faustina Mensah (Biochemistry Department).

Rev. Dr. Wilfred Arthur, minister for the celebration reechoed on the theme “GO LIGHT YOUR WORLD” (Matthew 5- 14:16). In summary, he made all aware that to light up your world is to follow the steps of Christ and living as He did. He said light is the nature of God’s expression.

After the sermon, many addresses that were delivered. First was an address by Mr. Wisdom E. Sablah (SCC VC). He encouraged all students to continuously leave in the faith. The second address was by the SRC president, Mr. Duke Sasu Aaron. He stated his immediate plans which included the SRC Business Idea Competition, health facilities in all the six traditional halls and a ‘bus bar’ system which will improve transportation on campus and promised an immediate implementation of all these ideas. He extended warm greetings from the Vice Chancellor and The Dean of Students who were absent.

Miss Evelyn Mutinta, the local NUGS President also addressed the students about the soon-to-come academic competitions among the six traditional halls and the policy of easy passport acquisition for students. She also congratulated some students of KNUST who have been elected into higher offices of student politics.

The announcement was delivered by Miss Portia Oduro, the SCC Secretary. Most importantly, she informed and reminded students about the worship complex project and entreated all to be a part of one-man-cement project.

Finally, Very Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo gave the closing prayer and benediction after he had advised students not to use unauthorized places for church activities and prayer grounds. Some of the places he mentioned were the Great Hall foyer, the faculties and classrooms with the exception of groups and denomination with authorization.
