KNUST signs MoU with Narh-Bita College

The partnership of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Narh-Bita College (N-BC)  has finally been formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Instrument of Affiliation and Affiliation Agreement.

The agreement stipulated that the two institutions would jointly award Bachelor of Science Degrees (BSc) in taught undergraduate programmes in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology and a Diploma in Physician Assistantship.

Professor William Otoo Ellis, the Vice Chancellor of KNUST, stressed the fact that the instrument of affiliation had mutual benefits and responsibilities which KNUST was prepared to share and discharge effectively.

He added that N-BC also had a task to ensure that all functions and responsibilities with respect to the agreement would be met fully to maintain and enhance the academic standards of all taught undergraduate programmes. He also suggested to the team to use the partnership to learn and gain experience from KNUST’s Health Unit as well as the Legal and Welfare team.

Prof. Ellis urged N-BC to work hand in hand with KNUST’s Affiliation Office to build the relationship and cooperation between the two institutions. This would help both institutions to exercise their responsibilities to the satisfaction of the Academic Board of KNUST. He also encouraged the delegation from N-BC to attend the meetings of the Liaison Committee which brought together all other affiliate institutions to share ideas and deliberate on challenges and critical issues that promoted the success of both institutions.

In rapping up, Prof. Otoo Ellis encouraged N-BC to take advantage of the Capacity Building Assistance Programmes that is being organised by KNUST for its staff and affiliate Institutions to upgrade and equip them for academic excellence.

The Vice president of Narh – Bita College, Dr. Aaron Ami Narh, who acted on behalf of their president, said the MoU with KNUST was a dream come through for them and they were grateful for the necessary explanations with  regards to what they stand to gain from this affiliation and promised to work assiduously to expectation. Mr. Sam Abossey also from N-BC, remarked that, KNUST is noted for good academic standard and believed this affiliation would help mentor their Institution to achieve their goal. 

Professor William Otoo Ellis and Mr. Andoh, Deputy Registrar, Human Resource who acted on behalf of Mr. Kobby Yebo – Okrah the Registrar of KNUST signed on behalf of KNUST and Dr. Narh and Mr. Sam Abossey Tawiah also signed on behalf of N-BC.
