The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the KNUST has promised that affected students of Crystal Rose Hostel fire incident will be housed in the SRC hostel. President of the SRC, Caleb Fugah says it is an interim measure for the students as they look for permanent accommodation for affected students.

Students of the hostel that was gutted by fire are worried about the difficulty in seeking alternate accommodation as school reopens on Friday, January 10.
Thirty-five rooms accommodating seventy students have been ravaged by the inferno yesterday, January 9.
Three of the four floors of the hostel were engulfed in flames, and it took firemen over three hours to bring it under control.
The hostel, one of the biggest private facilities at the KNUST recently underwent renovation.
The students suspect unstable power supply as the most likely cause of the accidents.
Regional Fire Safety Officer, David Afful confirmed in an interview that preliminary investigations also points at electrical faults.
He advised students to employ the practice of putting off electrical gadget when not in use especially when leaving for vacations.
However, school authorities have scheduled a meeting with hostel management and some affected students today, January 10 to sit on the issue.
Credible sources say some affected students (mostly international students) are currently perching at the Brunei Hostel (an international hostel).
