KNUST-SRC sued over week celebration funding

SHARE ON

The KNUST Students’ Parliament House (KSPH) has filed a suit against Daniel Kekeli (KNUST SRC Treasurer) and Opoku Agrippa (Head of SRC Week Planning Committee) over the source of funding for the 2015 SRC Week Celebration.

The plaintiff is seeking two reliefs;

1. That the Defendants should make known the budget for the week celebration.

2. That the Defendants should also provide the source of finance in the situation where Reconciliation of Funds has not been done.

The two defendants have been served and the House is waiting for the Judicial Committee Chairman to fix a date for the court hearing.

The sitting

Following the last sitting of the KNUST Students’ Parliament House presided over by Rt. Hon Michael Erzuah Nyamea, there was fury over the delay of disbursement of college/faculty dues which for the first time were paid into a consolidated fund created by the university administration.

This to most college/faculty executives has brought their activities for the semester to a halt.

The Speaker expressed worry over the transparency of the SRC in the discharge of its duties. He advised that student leaders be mindful of the the way they run to authorities for assistance because most assistance come with strings attached and leaders could end up being controlled. He was sad that most of the SRC executives were members of the house and yet could not do anything about the situation.
