The newly adjudged strongest man on the land of Kwame Nkrumah of Science and Technology is warning weightlifters in Ghana to stay put and watch out for him.
Popularly known as Ronnie Coleman, Ahmed Boakye says his next target is contesting Ghana’s strongest, a TV3 reality show for weightlifters across the nook and cranny of Ghana.
He revealed his plan to achieving this rather big ambition in an interview with FOCUS NEWS.
According to him, his short term plan is to qualify for the national event and place be part of the first four.
He believes by so doing the experience gathered in the first try will catapult him to win the ultimate when he contests the following year.
Former winner of TV3’s Ghana’s Strongest, Faisal Alhassanwho has been a regular part and a judge of the annual event since its inception three years ago believes in Boakye’s dream.
Though disappointed in number of contestants for this year’s competition, he is optimistic next year’s will be bigger.
According to him, the future of weightlifting in Kumasi looks brighter than we can see.
Wednesday night, Hundreds of people from within and around KNUST including non-students trooped to the premises of Unity hall to witness the third edition of KNUST strongest.
The programme which ate late into the night saw different sizes of biceps and muscles displayed by participants at Unity Hall all in the name to grasp the prestigious accolade of being the strongest man on the KNUST land.
The event is part of the week-long 45th hall week celebration of Unity Hall.
Participants competed in various activities ranging from bench pressing, squats and deadlifts.
As keen as the competition was, the chants of ‘omu be dwane’ (which means they will run) from the fans of Ahmed Boakye urged him pass the other competitors won the competition in grand style.
Boakye Ahmed took home the most prestigious trophy and a refrigerator.
Speaking to FOCUS FM, he was thankful to organizers of the competition and revealed his intention to contest for Ghana’s strongest soon.
The second and third runner up had trophies each, standing fan, and a microwave respectively.
The event was organized by Mojo Health and Fitness Centre and Ultimate radio’s Bernard Buachi.
They were very happy of the turn of event.
