Mr. Alan Nkrumah, a final year Sports and Exercise student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has emerged winner for the third (3rd) season of the Good Life Game Show organised by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). He took home an amount of five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 5 000) as the grand prize and an additional amount of one thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 1 000) after being adjudged the second runner-up in his group during the semi-finals of the game.
The 13-weeks-of-health-education-and-fun Game Show was a blend of entertainment and education on health information quizzes to promote and encourage learning and good health practices.
Dr. Gloria Quansah, Head of Family and Health Division of GHS, in an interview said that the Goodlife Game Show which was an initiative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with technical support from USAID’s Behaviour Change Support (BCS) Project, was part of the “Goodlife, Live it well” campaign of the Ghana Health Service which was launched in November 2012 to promote the healthy lifestyle of Ghanaians. The campaign consists of sub-campaigns including Child Nutrition Food Super Heroes, Malaria (Aha ye de), Hygiene, Water and Sanitation, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health and Life Choices Family Planning campaigns.
Mr. Nkrumah said in an interview that not only was he pleased to have emerged winner but was also pleased for the education he had received on health information and hoped that as a result of the consistent communication to the public through the game show, the health of Ghanaians would be enhanced.
Mr. Nkrumah competed with three other contestants: Mr. Kevin Nana Siaw, a student of the Central University College, Miss Roselin Paintsil, a student at the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) and Mr. Selassie Setsoafia, a service person at the Ghana Technology University.
