Launch of KNUST-Fashion Week 2014 socked in rain

The annual KNUST fashion week launched during the weekend was short lived not because of the usual technical problems that confront event organizers but a natural phenomenon. The launch of the 2014 KNUST fashion week will go down in the school’s history as the first ever programme launch socked by rain.

The programme set to start at about 8pm was forced to start and end earlier than organizers planned.

This is not because of the usual stories event organizers are fond of telling patrons but nature.

The situation was no fault of theirs as the rather warm and dry night suddenly changed into a cold and wet night for an event that a lot of noise has been made about.

Right in front of the Republic Hall was a white linen cloth well inter-woven into a blue silky one on a well decorated stage which supposed to be the runway for the student models.

But the unexpected rains compelled the programme to be shifted from it well packaged and decorated run-way and stage from in front of Republic Hall into under the canopy walk-way of the Hall.

Amos, who is part of the organizers, was forced to give a minute walk on the new runway (Republic Hall canopy path) to launch the 2014 fashion week in what was way out of the planned agenda.

The rather unpredicted situation caused the launch to last as short as programme planned to last minimum for an hour could only go as far as fifteen minutes.
In the face of this natural uncertainty, organizers of the programme promise a mind-blowing fashion week this year.

The launch was expected to give the student body a gist of what should be expected at the 2014 fashion week proper which comes off later in the semester.
The undoubtedly biggest fashion programme parades the school’s best designers’ best designs ranging from beads, bags, shoes, men’s to women’s wear.

It also provides a platform for the upcoming models and a stage where the best student models flaunt their modeling skills and showcase their talents.
Organisers of the programme, AYO A Modeling Agency and the Textiles Department have showed great prospect by improving year after year since it started three years ago.

Despite the unbelievable spectacle, the fashion week is on from February, 19 to 22.
