Team UG from the University of Ghana locked horns with Team KNUST of the Kwame University of Science and Technology in the first match of the 6th Mini Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Female Soccer Competition at the Paa Joe Stadium of KNUST on January 3, 2015.

Both teams began the game very slowly but managed to create lots of chances. In the 16th minute, Diana Ansah (KNUST) sent a nicely floated free kick over goalkeeper Aku Sika (UG) to put the host in the lead. This was followed by two spectacular goals from Lois Masoperh and Eugenia Peprah in the 36th and 39th minutes respectively. However, UG came back strongly to pull two goals after lovely strikes from Enyonam Adzimah and Nana Yaa Nyarko in the 40th and 52nd minutes respectively.

Nevertheless this was short lived as Diana Ansah scored a brace in the 60th minutes to condemn Team UG to a 4-2 loss.

The following day (January 4, 2015), Team UG came up against Team UCC of the University of Cape Coast. The game which started on the best of notes, saw UCC drawing first blood in the 5th minute after a clinical finish by Regina Tetteh (UCC). Team UCC made it two in the 12th minute from a lovely strike from Hamdiya Kanyoti . Team UG however got a consolation goal after a wonderful strike from Stephanie Adomako to send the game to recess.

In the second half, Gifty Ampofo (UCC) scored a brace to send Team UCC four goals up and Ellen Chienbuah kissiwa found the net in the dying embers of the game to finish the contest 5-1 in favour of UCC.

Team UCC faces Team KNUST on January 5 in the female soccer competition at the main Paa Joe Stadium of KNUST at 7:00am. Team UEW will be competing with Team UPSA at same time at the annex of the stadium.
