If only we could turn back the precious hands of the time, I must confess the JCR of Independence Hall where Dr. Emmanuel Ofori was our Hall Master would gladly do so without hesitation. Hearing the news of the sudden death of one of the greatest hall masters the hall has ever had, on that faithful Sunday, the 19th of October 2014, the entire JCR had hearts and minds filled with tears, sorrows and pain because our Hall Master was one of a kind our mother earth hardly produced.
Dr. Ofori was a proud Spartan who had in him the very rare spirit of Spartanism. He was a counselor, a mentor, a motivator, a supervisor, a peacemaker who always ensured that peace and tranquility existed in the Hall. Most importantly, he was a person we called A FATHER because he was always there for us…this he portrayed by never locking the door of his office until that sad Sunday.
Words cannot describe the sadness and the sorrow we feel in our hearts as well as the vacuum his demise has left in the Hall. Love for your fellow neighbor and love for your Lord God is what our late Hall Master taught us. No wonder the Hall under his hall mastership won several laurels and awards.
His soft heartedness and most importantly a loving heart full of life for all are gifts he has impacted on us all even as students in the university. His foresight and long term vision made the Hall and its members known as Spartans saw several remarkable developments in the hall. These include the waste management project which was the first ever waste policy to hit the four walls of the university, the decentralized PA system, the balcony cooking platform, the balcony outlet linkage, main and annex rewiring, the initial stage of the procurement of the hall power plant, increase in the number of the security personnel in the hall and a whole lot more.
A thousand paged tribute we know cannot bring our beloved Hall Master back but what we know as JCR is that, you have left us in bodily form but not in spirit because you will forever be with us. We never thought the meeting we had in your house would be the last encounter with you as JCRC but all the same we thank God for that last encounter we had with you before the cold hands of death greeted you in the palm.
To the man who taught us the true meaning of what leadership and servitude is we say FARE THEE WELL A NOBLE ABRANTE3, FARE THEE A PROUD SPARTAN, FARE THEE A DISTINGUISHED TECHNOCRAT. Till we meet again, we say DAMIREFA DUE.
Indece shall forever remember you.
Signed
