A level 200 student of the University of Ghana, Herty Obeng is reported to have died following a fatal motor accident involving a motorcycle she was riding on with a male friend and a speeding vehicle around Tesano in Accra.
The student, known to be a resident of the Hilla Liman Hall left the hall the night before her untimely demise with a gentleman she introduced only as a motorcyclist according to roommates.
They lamented they heard nothing from her till they were informed about her death the following day by some other friends who came around to collect her clothes on the instruction of her parents.
A friend of the deceased in an interview with Radio Univers stated the late Herty was fond of telling them nothing or little about her whereabouts or activities whenever she went outside the university campus till she returned.
The late Herty Obeng was behind her male friend on the motorcycle when it collided with an oncoming vehicle on Thursday dawn.
According to reports, the impact threw her off the bike with some speeding vehicles running over her body. Pictures of the mutilated body showed serious injuries to her face and parts of her body.
Univers News gathers the gentleman Herty was riding with is responding to treatment after coming out of comma. Although his real identity has not been established yet, he is suspected to be a security official at the IT directorate of the University.
This brings to about 5 the number of University of Ghana students who have died in various motor accidents this year alone with the most recent being the death of former Organizing Secretary of the Jean Nelson Aka Hall JCR, Maxwell Asumeng who died last month after suffering several injuries from an accident involving a speeding vehicle and a motorcycle he was riding around the main University campus.
