Miss Naa Okailey Shooter, a 23-year-old medical student of the University of Ghana made the University and Ghana proud on Saturday when she placed 3rd in the 63rd edition of the Miss World contest.
Naa’s Beauty with a Purpose presentation on Buruli Ulcer also made it to the list of top 10 selected projects. She was crowned Miss Ghana 2012 in November last year.
Miss Philippines was crowned Miss World 2013 at a tightly guarded ceremony in Bali, Indonesia, after the contest was plagued by protests from Muslim hardliners and fears that extremist groups could try to disrupt the event.
Marine Lorphelin, a 20-year-old medical student from France, took second place.
The new Miss World will spend the next year travelling to represent the Miss World Organization and help raise money for its charitable causes.
