Latex Foam donates to Legon Student Financial Aid Office

For the third year running, the Student Financial Aid Office (SFAO) of the University of Ghana has received a donation of GH¢10,000 from Latex Foam Products Limited.

The Public Relations Officer of Latex Foam, Ms. Gifty Ekeocha, who presented the cheque on behalf of the company said that Latex Foam was very excited to be associated with the University of Ghana. She noted that this was the third year Latex Foam was supporting the Students Financial Aid Office. She assured the University of the company’s commitment to helping brilliant needy students lessen their burden and support them to acquire quality education.

Mrs. Christy Baning, Head of the Students Financial Aid Office, received the donation on behalf of the University. She expressed gratitude to the company for the generous donation, adding that the relationship between the University and Latex Foam for the past three years has seen the company make yearly donations to assist brilliant needy students in the University, which she said has boosted the assistance the University can give to such students.

Mrs. Baning disclosed that 60% of the donation would be committed to the Students with Special Needs Fund, following on the wish of Latex Foam, while 40% would be directed to the Needy Students Fund. She said that in addition to the donation, the company also offers internships to needy students, a gesture she added, was greatly appreciated by the University.

Latex Foam provides internship opportunities through the SFAO, to first year students who are needy and have offered a course in critical thinking. The third batch of students have already started their internship.

The Co-ordinator of the Office of Students with Special Needs, Professor Isaac Kojo Asante, who was present at the ceremony, in brief remarks, thanked Latex Foam for the kind gesture which he said would go a long way to make a difference in the lives of the beneficiary students as well as elevate the company’s partnership with the University.
