Univers News has gathered some fresh students of the University of Ghana have resorted to sharing beds with their mates or “perching” as it is commonly termed here because of the present accommodation crisis.

Until these students get substantive rooms, they have to make do with their friends.
Meanwhile, SRC President of the University of Ghana, Edmond Kombat says he is working to ensure that the accommodation problems some fresh students are facing are resolved.

Mr. Kombat told Univers News, he is in contact with the Dean of Students Affairs and the Academic Affairs Directorate who are seeking a speedy resolution to the crisis.

An anomaly in registration for accommodation has left some fresh students of the University of Ghana in a fix.

Univers News understands a mistake in labeling rooms online has resulted in some fresh students choosing kitchens and box rooms and even washrooms as their place of residence.
Some halls affected by this are the Legon and Commonwealth Halls.

Stephen Yeboah, JCR President of the Legon Hall, one of the halls affected by this expressed concern about the current situation when he spoke to Univers News.

Earlier, the Senior Tutor of the Commonwealth Hall told Univers News the online registration process for accommodation for fresh students was rushed.

According to Dr Thomas Aquinas Adjadeh, the University’s Internet Capacity doesn’t make registration faster and this puts the students at risk of not registering early enough.
