
The University of Ghana has sworn in a new registrar in the person of Mercy Haizel-Ashia. Before her appointment and subsequent swearing in, Mrs. Ashia served as the Director for Human Resource and Organizational Development of the University.
She succeeds J.M. Budu who served in the capacity of registrar for four years.

Mrs. Mercy Haizel Ashia is a professional University Administrator. She has extensive management experience within the administrative system of the University of Ghana, starting as a Junior Assistant Registrar and reaching the current position of registrar over a twenty-five year career.
Mrs. Ashia is a product of the University Primary School in Legon, Achimota Secondary School and the Sixth Form of the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School, Legon. An alumna of the University of Ghana, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and an Executive Masters degree in Business Administration (Human Resource Management option).
In addition, she holds several management and leadership certificates and is also a fellow of Volta Hall. she is the first ever female in the 65 year history of the University of Ghana to occupy the position of Registrar.
