The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana on Monday commissioned Radio Univers’ new studio equipment at a brief ceremony at the station’s premises.

The ceremony also saw the launch of the station’s new programmes and official unveiling of the station’s new generator.

Addressing the occasion, Professor Ernest Aryeetey remarked the new equipment should enable the station do more in terms of radio broadcasting to contribute significantly to the development of the University community and the nation as a whole.

He said Radio Univers was slated to play a bigger role as the University goes collegiate. Professor Aryeetey said the station would play an instrumental role in empowering students who want to pursue journalism.

He said there were discussions underway on how to restructure the station for that purpose as well as provide the needed resources.

On the other hand, Station Manager, Dr. Clement Abass Apaak expressed his profound appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for his continued support; notable amongst them, a bus provided last year.

He said the station would not relent in its efforts to ensure quality delivery of service.
Professor Aryeetey together with Dr. James Adomako (Dean of Students), Mrs. Stella Amoah (Director of Public Affairs), Dr. Margaret Amoakohene (Director, School of Communications), Dr. Africanus Ave (Head of Theatre Arts Department), Professor Kofi Ohene Agyekum (Board Chairman) and Dr. Clement Abass Apaak (Station Manager) cut the sod for the use of the new equipment after which he went on air to officially announce it.
