Many were the messages and videos I received on whatsapp and via e-mail about 3 ladies said to be students of University of Ghana who were allegedly caught at Mr. Price at the Accra Shopping Mall for stealing lingerie and panties.
I just had the opportunity to watch the video this morning and “oh my days’ I said to myself..How can managers of a refined place like Accra Mall allow this to happen to human beings.
That is clearly instant justice and absolutely unacceptable. They stole and so what? I am obviously not supporting them for the crime they allegedly committed BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDED OVER TO THE POLICE. SIMPLE.
The rights of the ladies have clearly been abused. How can you make the ladies crawl on their knees in public amidst this extreme humiliation and filming by on-lookers.
Surprisingly, those who sent me messages and videos were ALL students and expected myJCR to publish such a video on our platform. Like seriously? Instead of standing against this awful act and injustice…you prefer to spread it rather? That is shameful.
I call on the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, the UG SRC President, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) to investigate the incident and ensure the perpetrators are brought to book as soon as possible.
Where is National Security? Oops, probably this is not a toll booth.
Arise Ghana students for your country. Aluta!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!
