STATEMENT BY THE UNIVERSITY OF GHANA ON THE DEATH OF H. E. PROFESSOR J. E. A. MILLS
The University of Ghana has learnt with deep sadness the death of His Excellency Professor John Evans Atta Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana.
Professor Atta Mills was the first alumnus of the University of Ghana, and for that matter any University in Ghana, to have been elected to the highest office of President. During his time as a member of the Faculty of Law he contributed immensely to the generation and dissemination of knowledge in his area of specialization, tax law. His involvement in the life of the university went beyond academics to sports. We remember his invaluable commitment to the development of sports in the University of Ghana. Ghana has lost a great son and the University of Ghana has lost an outstanding alumnus.
At this time of such a huge loss, our prayerful thoughts go out to the people of Ghana and, especially, to his wife, Mrs Naadu Mills, and his entire family.
May His Soul Rest in Peace.
