One of the two female students of the University of Ghana who died in the Friday morning Okponglo car accident has been confirmed to be the daughter of Assin South NPP MP Professor Dominic Fobih. Lordina Fobih and her classmate Derby Akosua Denkyira Benaye, both 19, died instantly in the accident that occurred around 1:30am.
Prof. Fobih told Adom News in a telephone interview the late Lordina was his daughter, but did not want to say anything further.
The two ladies were onboard a taxi cab with registration number GE 4707-12 heading towards the University when the vehicle ran into a Mercedes Benz refuse truck with registration number GE 645 X, also heading towards the Tetteh Quarshie traffic light in Accra.
The driver of the taxi and one other passenger survived with serious injuries.
They are currently on admission at the 37 Military Hospital, where the bodies of the deceased have also been deposited.
A school mate of the girls earlier told Adom News that the two girls were both former students of Holy Child School in Cape Coast.
Meanwhile, the truck driver was unhurt and is currently in police custody pending investigations.
