The University of Ghana Business school is happy to announce the launch of CARIBU Scholarship and Mobility Programme for students, academic, administrative staff of University of Ghana. UGBS is representing University of Ghana on the consortium.
CARIBU is an Erasmus Mundus Action2 partnership program that aims at increasing academic mobility, research and capacity building opportunities between 8 EU universities in Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Poland, Portugal, Romania and the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries including Bahamas, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Suriname, Timor-Leste, and Samoa. The CARIBU focuses on the thematic fields which have been identified by ACP institutions as representing the biggest needs for their countries. These include Engineering, ICT, Environment, Sciences, Agriculture, Management and Social Sciences.
The program seeks to stimulate academic mobility between ACP and EU higher education institutions for experience sharing, capacity building and fostering further cooperation in areas of research and education among partner universities. It is devoted to creating a mutual forum for scientific cooperation, learning enhancement and exchange of best practices among EU-ACP universities.
The program will offer scholarships to Masters and PhD students as well as academic and administrative staff. In 3 cohorts, a total of 210 students, academic and administrative staff from the 12 ACP countries will be selected to benefit from the programme for a period of 4 years. These will include 152 Masters, 27 PhDs, and 31 academic and administrative staff.

Eligibility and Target Groups in Ghana
TARGET GROUP 1: University of Ghana students, academic and administrative staff
TARGET GROUP 2: A Ghanaian who is registered in University of Ghana OR must have obtained a university degree from University of Ghana.
TARGET GROUP 3: A Ghanaian who is in a particularly situations for social and political reasons
The exchange of staff must follow a mobility plan validated by both the home and host institution. For academic staff, it will mainly focus on teaching and research activities during their stay in the host institution as well as the production of new teaching material. For administrative staff this will involve mostly university management, international offices management and admissions. The mobility of staff as a whole should contribute to the strengthening of scientific and administrative cooperation and capacity building opportunities between the University of Ghana and the partner institutions.
Scholarship Package
The scholarship covers the following:
Monthly subsistence allowance:
Master students: 1,000 € per month
PhD Students : 1,500 € per month
Staff : 2,500 € per month
Travel tickets: 1 return economy class ticket per participant (tickets are purchased by the coordinating university through an accredited travel agency.
