Volta Hall has held its annual Leavers’ Dinner and Academic Excellence Awards night. Re-instituted in April 2013, the Volta Hall Annual Leavers’ Dinner and Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony is aimed at motivating students of the Hall to pursue their studies with diligence and also provide a platform to appreciate final year students.
The climax of the evening was the presentation of the Academic Excellence Awards to recently graduated and continuing students of the Hall who had excelled in the 2012/2013 academic year. In all, ten cash prizes were awarded as follows:

Ladies who had also distinguished themselves in sports during the past academic year were recognized by the hall. The certificates were presented by Dr. (Mrs.) Vivian Tackie-Ofosu, the Deputy Senior Tutor, and Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Director of Sports.
All final year students (leavers) were given a special souvenir – a branded Volta Hall mug with the inscription: ‘Be the Change that You want to See in the World’. This was to constantly remind the Leavers of their time in Volta Hall and the University and to challenge them to project the image of Volta Hall by distinguishing themselves and making a positive difference wherever they found themselves.
Professor Ellen Bortei-Doku Aryeetey encouraged the Leavers to take a cue from the older fellows and alumnae of the Hall who have been pacesetters in their various fields of endeavour.
The occasion was also used to recognize the most recently retired Fellow of the Hall, Professor (Mrs.) Akosua Adoma Perbi who is also a past Warden of the Hall. Her citation was read by the Registrar of the University of Ghana, Mrs. Mercy Haizel Ashia, (also a proud Alumna and Fellow of Volta Hall). The Vice Chancellor presented Prof. Perbi with a parting gift on behalf of the Hall.
When the floor was opened, the Vice-Chancellor graciously accepted the invitation by a fellow of the Hall and captivated the audience with his well-calculated steps. He was joined on the dance floor by other distinguished guests and students.
Hall management present at the dinner included the Warden, Prof. Esther Sakyi-Dawson, the Senior Tutor, Mrs. Angelina Lily Armah, President of the Senior Common Room, Dr. (Mrs.) Eureka Ahadjie Adomako as well as many other members of the Volta Hall Alumnae Association, and other University officials and guests.
