7th PUSAG Sports and Entertainment Festival slated for March 10 to March 14

The Seventh Edition of the Private Universities’ Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) Sports and Entertainment Festival is scheduled to come off from March 10 to 14 at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.

The PUSAG Sports and Entertainment festival is an annual event that takes place to bring all accredited private Universities’ students together to showcase their hidden talents in them so as to promote nation building and also to strengthen existing unity among member institution.

The event is under the theme “Contributing to National Development Through Sports, The Role of Private Universities in Ghana’.

The Media Relations Officer of PUSAG, Raphael Apetorgbor, who said this in Accra, noted that over 1,500 students would participate in the competition, adding that five different sports will be competed for.

These include football, basketball, volleyball, Athletics and handball in which 32 private universities across the country will be struggling for honours in the five-day event that will attract the creme-de-la-creme of the schools.

The Media Relations Officer added that the aim of the Game is to help the nation discover talents among the students of the private universities. He said the previous editions of the Games had produced outstanding athletes who have represented the country in various fields of sporting activities.

Raphael Apetorgbor assured that adequate security has been provided for all the athletes adding however that God is the great and ultimate security.

“Through the coming games, we hope to develop young athletes who could represent our country in international competitions,” he said.

He said,” the PUSAG Local Organizing committee is making efforts to ensure that the Games are hitch free. We want to assure all our stakeholders that this year’s edition shall be better than the previous ones”.

Apetorgbor said that participating institutions will tour the territorial waters of Ghana with the Ghana Naval Ship from Tema on Friday, 14March 2014.

Competing schools he mentioned are, All Nations University College, Pentecost University College, Pan- Africa University College, Wisconsin University College, Zenith University College, Valley View University, Garden City University College, Spiritan University College, University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (UCAES).

The rest are Regent University College, Evangelical Presbyterian University College, Catholic University College, KAAF University College, Radford University, Ghana Christian University College, Ghana Baptist University College, Islamic University College, Methodist University College and Presbyterian University College among others.
