An induction ceremony for the new President and Vice-President (Academic) of Central University College was held at the Miotso campus of the university on the 17th of October, 2012 at the Trinity Hall. The ceremony which attracted a lot of academic and social luminaries from outside also saw close family members and friends of the inductees in attendance. The Board of Regent of the university as well as Staff and Faculty of CUC were well represented at the ceremony. Prof. V.P.Y. Gadzekpo in a short speech enumerated his achievements during his eight years in charge and called on the incoming President and Vice-President to always seek God`s face if they are to succeed in their new offices. The Pro-Chancellor of CUC, Dr. Joyce Aryee was assisted by the Chancellor, Dr. Mensa Otabil to symbolically robe Prof. Kwesi Yankah and Prof. Emmanuel Adow Obeng into office as President and Vice-President (Academic) respectively. The Chancellor led the inductees in swearing the oath of office. The Chancellor in his speech traced the history of the university starting from the contribution of the first President Prof. Kingsley Larbi to the tenure of the outgoing President (Prof. V.P.Y. Gadzekpo). He greatly lauded the work of Prof. Gadzekpo especially in relation to the rolling out of programmes in the Social Sciences and the School of Applied Science.

He also revealed that the Inductees had all been members of the Board of Regent and expressed his confidence in their abilities to use their experiences and insight to further enhance the great legacy they had come to meet. Prof. Kwesi Yankah in his induction speech revealed his contribution to the tenure of office of the outgoing management as a member of the Board of Regent and pledged to correct the erroneous impression in the minds of certain people that private universities are only second choice when it comes tertiary education in Ghana. He touched on the confused identity imposed on the university as it tries to marry the myriad demands of the three mentor institutions of University of Cape Coast, University of Ghana and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to which it is currently affiliated and promised to make CUC the preferred choice in tertiary education in Ghana.
