Five second-year Higher National Diploma (HND) students of the Ho Polytechnic have been dismissed for using a fake West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results to gain admission during the 2011/2012 academic year.

A press release by Mr David Dzontoh, Polytechnic Registrar, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday gave the names of the five as, Ms. Millicent Adraku, Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management; Mr. Amponsah K. Amoako, Department of Fashion Design and Textiles; Mr. Patrick Amissah, Department of Marketing; Mr. Dennis Tetteh, Department of Marketing and Ms. Dziedzorm Bansah, also of the Department of Marketing.

The release stated therefore urged the Polytechnic Community and the general public to withdraw all courtesies accorded them as students of the Ho Polytechnic.

He said the action was in line with Article 2 of the Students’ Regulations concerning Registration and Admission of Students.

“Under this regulation, only students who fully satisfy the entry requirements for their programs of study can be admitted to the Polytechnic.

“Any student found not fully qualified will be withdrawn immediately if detected,” Mr Dzontoh stated.

He further stated that “where the forged result is not detected during the course, certificates, diplomas or honours awarded to such students shall be revoked completely by the Polytechnic if the fraud is later exposed”.

Mr Dzontoh said the Polytechnic was in the process of verifying other results presented by students in support of their applications for admission into the Polytechnic, assuring that “Ho Polytechnic is committed to its core values of academic quality and excellence and therefore will not shield any irregularities of students”.
