Five polytechnic students will be awarded an educational scholarship worth GH¢10,000 each by the MTN Ghana Foundation as part of its 10 Million Merit Award Scheme on Thursday, February 7. The five were selected from Ho, Koforidua, Sunyani, Bolga and Wa Polytechnics after participating in an essay competition organized by the Foundation in conjunction with the administration of the polytechnics.
Mrs Cynthia Lumor, the Executive Director of MTN Ghana Foundation, told the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday that the Foundation was pleased to have successfully completed the selection process for the 10 beneficiaries.
She said participants wrote on the topic: “Discuss How Ghana Can Take Advantage of Information Communication Technology and Data Usage for Its Development”.
She said “as a socially responsible organization, we are happy to have honored our promise to our subscribers and Ghana as a whole. The objective has been met and it gives us a good feeling that as a Foundation we are enriching the lives of 10 students currently studying in the universities and polytechnics of Ghana.”
The Award Scheme was launched in May 2012 to offer a scholarship package totaling GH¢ 100,000.00 to 10 brilliant and needy students who had applied to 10 pre-selected public tertiary institutions nationwide.
Five of the beneficiaries who were mostly applicants to the various public universities received their awards in August last year.
