A first year Human Biology student of the University of Cape Coast, Albert Lamptey Gormey lost his life this afternoon at the portion of the sea opposite the West Gate this afternoon (Saturday, April 20, 2013) when he got drowned. Albert was a resident of the Nkrumah Hall of UCC.
myJCR UCC reporters have confirmed the incident. We are making efforts to speak to an authority of the university for a full account of the incident.
Reports indicate that he was playing football with his friends at the shore before the incident and the body is yet to be found. The late Albert Lamptey Gormey is from the Greater Accra Region of Ghana and an old student of Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Legon. myJCR has confirmed he was a member of the National Union of Presbyterian Students, Ghana (NUPS-G).
