The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Thomas Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, has lauded the Faculty of Law Students’ Union of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) for introducing the community engagement project to educate people on basic human rights, the rule of law, and good governance in both the University and its surrounding communities.

He said the programme when well executed will go a long way to educate the target group on basic legal issues and also help individuals to know their roles and responsibilities as citizens which will ultimately lead to the observance of law and order in society.

He made these remarks at the inauguration of the Law Students’ Union and the induction of its first executive board at the Senior Members Club House last Friday.

Hon. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah said, the attainment of the vision and programme outlined requires hard work, commitment and dedication and called on all to give the Executive Board the maximum support.

He commended the Vice Chancellor and the leadership of the University of Cape Coast for the establishment of the Faculty of Law under the leadership of its founding Dean, Professor Phillip Ebo Bondzie-Simpson.

The Central Regional Minister urged the Law students to take their studies seriously to help shape the direction of the country’s jurisprudence, the Bar and the society at large in the near future.

He also advised them to be faithful to the core values of the profession and ideals of the rule of law in a free and open society.
