UCC holds send-off ceremony for National Service Personnel

A send-off ceremony has been held in honour of National Service Personnel (NSP) who were posted to the university during the 2012/2013 academic year at the New Examinations Centre, North Campus.

Speaking at the function, the Vice-Chancellor commended the service personnel for their immense contributions to the university during their service period. He noted that the university had paid GH¢ 200.00 each for service personnel who could not be provided accommodation due to increase in admission last year. He finally wished them well in their search for job opportunities.

Giving the opening remarks, the Deputy Registrar, Division of Human Resource, Dr. K. Gyasi Badu stated that the university received 450 service personnel in the 2012/2013 academic year. He reiterated the university’s commitment to create opportunities to develop the skills and competence of service personnel to take up higher responsibilities in all sectors of the society.

The Chairman for the function, Rev. Prof. J. D. Owusu-Sekyere reminded the personnel to be humble and conduct themselves well in their quest to apply for job. He expressed confidence that the rich experience they had gained from UCC would be brought to bear on their future job.

The President of NSP, Mr. Annas Emmanuel Illah, thanked the university management for offering them the opportunity to serve mother Ghana. He appealed to management to consider providing separate accommodation for service personnel in future.
