The University of Cape Coast will soon restructure its academic programmes by bringing related Faculty/Schools together so that they can pool resources, strengths, potentials and opportunities to deliver better services to its clients.
This is in consonance with statute 19:1 of the 2012 Statutes of the University of Cape Coast which stipulates that: “Council, on the recommendation of the Academic Board, may establish a College of related Faculties and Schools.”
This came to light when the Committee for the establishment of Colleges in the University of Cape Coast presented its final report to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D. D. Kuupole in his office.
The establishment of the colleges is intended to provide opportunity for the pooling of resources, sharing of facilities and grouping of similar research interests. It would also enable the restructuring of programmes in addition to new ones thereby providing wider opportunities of courses to be offered by students. Additionally, it would promote quick decision making due to the semi-autonomous status of the colleges.
The proposed colleges include the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, College of Education, College of Health Sciences, College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and the College of Distance Education.
