UCC tops all at 23rd GUSA Games

The Team for the University of Cape Coast (UCC) emerged the best team with 71 medals at the 23rd Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games it hosted under the theme, “Harnessing Talents for Ghana through University Sports”.

The UCC Team shined in almost all the games and won 32 Gold, 31 Silver, and 8 Bronze medals. Please find below, the list of medals won by the other participating universitites.

The Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) was formed to be an umbrella organisation to organise sports competitions for students in universities in Ghana and to represent Ghana universities in international sports competitions. The work of the Association fits into the developmental agenda of member institutions, the nation and the international community.

The games for the 23rd GUSA Games inlcuded Athletics, Soccer, Badminton, Hockey, Table Tennis, Basketball, Netball, Tennis, Handball, and Volleyball. The three (3) athletes who performed brilliantly and took awards at this year’s competition under the Athletics category were:

Most Promising Athlete – Desmond Aryee (Legon)
Best Female Athlete – Beatrice Agyemang (UCC)
Best Male Athlete – Emmanuel Asante (UCC)

The next edition of GUSA Games will be hosted by the University Of Education, Winneba in 2016. Congratulations to Team UCC.
