I would like to thank the SRC President of the University of Ghana for this wonderful appointment. I am deeply moved by the opportunity to serve as PRO of the University of Ghana SRC (Press&Information Secretary). I would also like to thank my fellow SRC General Assembly Members whose approval of the nomination was unanimous– My roommates should tell you the slight tears I shed before stepping out of the room to attend the meeting that will make me PRO of Legon SRC as at level 100.
This remarkable rise can only happen in an institution that believes in what is within its students not what they have or who they are or where they come from or who their parents are. Talking about parents, I have the greatest of love for my MUM&DAD- but this feat is not theirs; at least not for now.
I am extremely honoured by this modest gain and I want to assure His Excellency Eric Edem Kobby , The Vice President, Kwame Asare Antwi and the entire student body, that beyond the campaigns, they are yet to see the very best in their boy. A special shout out to my Prempeh College mates who unconditionally gave their voices and their votes to the TEAM simply because MIKDAD was there. I am extraordinarily grateful to my UG brothers throughout; Jacob & John Walker Nketia and to congratulate same for a respective appointment as Local NUGS President and Programmes and Projects Chair. You are brothers to have and to hold dear. So many names keep coming to mind… God! My Nsawam Zongo AND Adoagyiri buddies.. Rotr Habib… thank you all… Amina Hamza…you made it happen!
Derrick Osei-Poku, I made a promise to you, that I will come to Legon and lay-that where I see politics and activism, I should go the opposite direction– but alas, I couldn’t help it! Some promises are difficult to keep. As for the wonderful ladies, I can never ever forget what you did- Thank you.
Thank you Prof Samuel Godwyll—you paid for all my extra classes throughout Prempeh College- and my registration fee too! Prof, I remember your words: “ Medad! All you need is a platform!”. Prof, ‘come and look me oo’! And to all the Pillars and Towers whose permission I don’t have to put their names up here… I thank you. Thank you Mr Edmond Kombat; thank you Mr Francis Boye– where will the boy have been without your guiding torchlights? Hujatul Islam Sheikh Fayduldeen, Allah will bless you. Final words: UNDER GOD, THE BEST IS YET COME.
Commonwealth Hall room E28;E29, my brothers, my friends and comedians(I cant believe I wrote it here..hahaahaa) whether we go to an inner room next semester Godwilling or not, THE UNION OF RICE COOKERS & THE ALLIANCE OF PROVISIONS CONTINUE!!!… Position or no position, I am still the brother you know… V-MATES!!!
