I ask, can’t the Vice Chancellor, Dean of Students, Students Representative Council (SRC) Presidents and other university authorities of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) organize their own gatherings and platforms to speak to students instead of using the Students Chaplaincy Council (SCC) church service?
A gathering solely meant for the propagation of Gods word to unleash their lengthy political talks on the student populace?
When you give the preacher 25-30 minutes to spread the gospel and allocates 90 minutes to the Vice Chancellor, Dean of Students, SRC President, Secretary and other executives, it can only be concluded by observers that the SCC places more emphasis on the speech of these authorities to the actual gospel in whose name the gathering was organized in the first place.
In short, you are using Gods word (church service) as the bait to lure students into listening to lengthy POLITICAL TALKS by student leaders and university authorities.
The SCC church service in KNUST is fast metamorphosing into a serious POLITICAL and ADMINISTRATIVE PLATFORM for student leaders and university authorities to talk about issues instead of preaching the gospel of Christ. When “Bible readers” are selected and imposed upon the SCC from the office of the Dean of Students all in the name of giving these “Bible Readers” the needed platform to nurse their cunning POLITICAL AMBITIONS then observers can only conclude that the house of the Lord has greatly been DEFILED by cunning men and it is the DEVIL ON THE CROSS instead of Christ in Gods own church.
Normal National Union of Presbyterian Students (NUPS-G) church service on Sundays starts at 6:15am and ends at 8:30am exactly. The SCC church service begins at 7:00am and ends at when the Vice Chancellor, SRC President, Vice, Secretary and the Dean of Students finish talking (only God knows when the Dean will finish talking).
University authorities can rape the SRC Constitution, frown on the verdicts of the SRC Judicial Committee and impose their own leaders on the silent masses but they dare not defile the house of the most high God with their cunning motives, using the SCC Church Service as a means of nursing and executing their political agenda.
The SCC should be fast in distinguishing its activities from the university’s else they risk losing its congregants like myself who can’t stand seeing the house of the most high God being used as a political platform instead of preaching the gospel of Christ.
The SCC must do everything humanly and spiritually possible to wipe the devil from the cross without leaving any traces of it. Church service is simply church service!
If the VC, Dean of Students, and SRC Executives want to talk to students, they should organize their own gatherings and stop defiling the house of the Lord. For where two or more are gathered in his name, the Lord is there.
God bless our homeland Ghana and rescue the SCC from the powers that be.
