The campus of the University of Benin, Nigeria was last weekend thrown into turmoil after cult clash between rival cult groups in the campus resulted in the death of some students.
While the number of students killed so far could not be ascertained as at press time, at least four deaths had been linked to the ongoing cult clash in the institution between yet to be identified cult groups.
Late last week, a student was reportedly shot dead in broad daylight inside the main campus of the institution at Ugbowo in Benin City, Nigeria.
The real name of the dead student could not be ascertained but his alias was given as Snazzy, a level 200 student of the Department of Mathematics, who was shot at the neck during a bio-metric verification exercise.
In his reaction to the killings at UNIBEN, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Edo State Police Command, DSP Moses Eguaveon, said some arrests had been made in relation to the killings.
