Minister urges students to uphold discipline

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Sarpong has urged students to uphold the values of discipline and decency as a path to a successful future.

He said lawlessness, disrespect, cutting corners and impunity could ruin their lives and so they should strive to avoid.

Mr Sarpong was addressing more than 400 students at Tanoso Adventist Junior High School as part of activities marking the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Citizenship week celebration.

This year’s event is being held on the theme: “Strengthening our pillars” and goal is to help the people to appreciate the consequences of indiscipline on the nation’s democracy.

The NCCE used the occasion to provide the platform for the students to interact with some prominent personalities to encourage them to dream big and aspire to greater heights in life.

Mr Sarpong underlined the need for them to be submissive to their parents and teachers and to take their education seriously.

He asked them to take responsibility for their education by working hard on their books.

Mr Alhassan Yakubu, the NCCE Regional Director, called on Ghanaians to believe in the country and work together to bring development.

He also appealed for support for Commission to carry out its activities to assist the people to become alive to their civic responsibilities.
