The VoiceGH fights domestic violence

Domestic violence which is something called domestic abuse or battering violence is a pattern of behaviour which involves violence or abuse by one person in a domestic context against another such as marriage. This violence can take different form including physical, emotional, verbal and sexual abuse.

Globally, a wife/female partner is more commonly the victim of this insubordinate action though the victim can also be the male partner but this really happens under rare cases. For quite some years now, the act has become a social canker that is eating these voiceless people up.

These vulnerable people become detected and sad on how their human rights are violated. These victims can even go to the extent of losing their precious lives because there is no one to speak for them. That is why a very concerned and energetic youth group called The VoiceGH has taken the mantle upon themselves to address some of these problems and find quick solutions to these grievances.

The VoiceGH

This is a youth group which was established officially in 2013 to address some social, political and legal issues affecting Ghanaians across the country. It was founded by a political studies student of the country’s maiden science and technology university, KNUST, called Adelaide Yiriyelleh and she works alongside with two people, Kofi Adabor and Nicholas Lennin Agyei.

The group is currently operating in KNUST and UG but their activities are carried outside the campuses to affect society as a whole.

The Mission

The mission of this noble group is to create change to help and educate people across the country.

Vision

As every organisation has its own goals on which their organisation are built, so as it is for this group. The sole vision of this group is to be one of the best NGOs not only in Ghana but Africa as a whole.

Achievements

The group has partaken in numerous projects to create change and also organised many programmes. Some of the most recent include a literacy programme which took place at the Victorians School located in Teshie. The programme was dubbed ‘Help a child to read project’. Human Right Sensitization programmes have been organised across some media outlets and the group participated in the review of the National Youth Policy and other forums affecting Ghanaians.

Projections

The VoiceGH has made a number of projections into the following years. Their next programme is scheduled for January 2015. It will be a cyber-campaign towards domestic violence. The group has many potentials that will help fight against violence in our homes, workplaces and the like so let us all work hand in hand in support of their projects. The VoiceGH needs you. Support a good cause.

This year’s Domestic Violence Campaign is in partnership with myJCR.com.
