The University Teachers Association of Ghana(UTAG) has declared an indefinite strike at a meeting held at the University Of Education, Winneba on Wednesday following what they say is government’s delay to pay their 2014/2015 Book and Research allowances.
The Association says until government pays members’ arrears, they will not resume work. A statement issued after the meeting said members at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) will not be in lecture halls on Friday, August 7 when school reopens.
The National President of UTAG, Dr. Samuel Bekoe, indicated that government is yet to acknowledge numerous letters written over the allowances.
