Anita Nana Asabea Akonor, a 16 year old 3rd year student of Wesley Girls Senior High School in a rare situation of occurrence, has taken up a voluntary service with the Osu Children’s Home in Accra.

The General Arts student, helped in bathing and changing diapers of children at the home, aided in cooking and served them food, among other duties.

An enthusiastic Miss Akonor was received with happy faces from care givers as well as the children, and left with a wide smile of satisfaction on her face.

“I have heard a lot about this place and I have always wanted to come and bond with these children who through no fault of theirs do not know their parents”, she said in an interview.

According to her, there were lots of things she learnt from the children during her voluntary service and was sure it would reflect in the upbringing of her children in the near future.

Though she noted that some of the children were tenacious, she was fulfilled to be with them since the ultimate purpose was to see everyone happy.

“She is always asking how to go about helping distressed children especially when she sees them on TV”, Edmund Akonor, father of Anita Akonor, confirmed her passion to helping children.
