Students of the Faculty of Law of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Thursday, 14th September 2017, held a memorial service for their departed colleague, Miss Abena Achiaa Agyapomaa Agyapong at the faculty’s auditorium.
The late Achiaa, who was in level 400 passed on to glory on the 4th of September 2017 after a short illness at a hospital in Accra.
In attendance were the family of the deceased student, provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the dean of students, the protestant chaplain, SRC executives, the university choir, other members of the university community, and friends of the late Achiaa.
The service
The welcome address and purpose of gathering for the memorial service were delivered by the dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Mrs. Lydia Apori Nkansah.
The university choir sang a congregational hymn before family members of the late student read her biography to the gathering.
A message of commemoration was given by the provost, Mr Ibrahim Braimah to convey the condolences of the university to the family members, law students, and friends of the late Achiaa. He further advised law students to learn a lesson from her sudden demise to remember the Lord in the days of their youth.
A lecturer, Mr George Yaw Otu, read a tribute on behalf of the faculty and Afaribea Danquah, General Secretary of the Law Students Union (LSU-KNUST), read a tribute on behalf of the union.
